OUT OF THE ARNOLD?
January 16, 2008
By Allan Donnelly
No, it’s got nothing to do with those Phil Heath pictures we posted yesterday. But we’re hearing the defending Arnold Classic champ and the 2007 Mr. Olympia runner-up may have to bypass this year’s Arnold Classic after popping his kneecap while stretching yesterday.
According to our sources, we’re hearing Martinez, the odds-on favorite to win the Arnold, is going in for an MRI on the knee tomorrow. If that’s the case, the door swings wide-open for a host of competitors – including Heath – to bring home the hardware from the ASC on March 1st.
Beitrag von Milos Sarcev's Board vom User Antonio:
According to our friend/member Heinz Senior who spoke to him on the phone, Vic sprained/strained his knee while getting out of his truck.

folgender zitat von chad nicholls:
Okay - for the record, I was hoping to keep this off the forums until after we got the results back from Vic's MRI so I could let you know everything - but obviously we have a bunch of boards trying to jump the gun.
Here's EXACTLY where we are: late last night - Victor was stretching in a lunge style stretch and when he stepped back, he fell down - there was no major pain, no major sign that anything major had happened. He started to step back on it again and his knee gave out. He realized that the knee was slightly dislocated, but still no major pain
At this point, we have no bleeding, some swelling, but at this point, whether or not he is out of the Arnold, etc. is PURE speculation until we know what we are dealing with and get the results from the MRI and hear from the Doctor.
Vic is seeing a specialist - I believe it is the surgeon that deals with the NY Giants - he is looked upon as the best in the area and we will know a heck of a lot more tomorrow. Stay posted here - if you want the accurate scoopage.

leider ist es jetzt amtlich das vic nicht die ASC macht, und er wird auch etwas länger zur wiedergenesung brauchen.
schade schade.....
chad nicholls zitat:
Just wanted to bring you up to speed with Victor - he's had his MRI, seen the doctor (surgeon) and the surgeon, I believe, is the head of surgery and the same surgeon that works with the NY Giants - so he is in great hands. So, we now can say 100% that Vic is out of the Arnold, which is the least of our concerns at this point - we are 110% focused on his health and with the surgery.
What we know is that while stretching, he tore his patellar tendon on the left leg. He will be going in tomorrow morning for the surgery and they are confident that the surgery will be a success and that his tendon will be completely repaired. Vic is in good spirits - he's very confident with the surgical team. The recovery time will be approximately 6 weeks and a couple of months of therapy back into training.
Please, everyone, keep him in your thoughts for a successful surgery and that he gets through it safe and healthy.

New York, Januar 2008: Nach einer 2 1/2 Stunden Operation wurde die Link gerissen Patallasehen erfolgreich zusammengefügt.

New York (January 18) After 2 1/2 hours of surgery, Victor Martinez's torn left patellar tendon was succesfully reattached. The following is a firsthand account by orthopedic surgeon and top national bodybuilder Dr. Victor Prisk, who assisted in the surgery.
"I just returned from a long day in the operating room at The Hospital for Special Surgery. However, this wasn't an ordinary day in the OR for me or the bodybuilding community. One of the greatest bodybuilders to grace the Olympia stage has suffered an unfortunate mishap. Victor Martinez, while doing warm-up lunges at his gym, ruptured his patellar tendon. He consulted with myself and the world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Russ Warren yesturday. After confirmation of the diagnosis with x-rays and evaluation of its severity by MRI, he consented for surgery. The operation went well and he's in good spirits. Let's all give Victor support and encouragement throughout his recovery."
On Wednesday January 16th, while doing a set of warm-up lunges at his home gym in New Jersey, 2007 Arnold Classic Champ Victor Martinez fell off balance and felt something "give" in his left knee. The pain wasn't intense but it forced him to discontinue his workout.
Today, he went for an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and it was determined that he'll require surgery to repair the injury. Victor will have one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the country operating on him tomorrow morning; and, if all goes as planned, he should be home by Saturday afternoon.
As a result of the injury, Victor will be forced to withdraw from the 2008 Arnold Classic and, instead, will concentrate on the upcoming 2008 Mr. Olympia. Stay tuned for daily updates!

Er hat doch noch Zeit. Auch wenn er verspätet ins Beintraining wieder einsteigen kann, müsste das eigentlich noch locker hinhauen.
